Master’s Seminar on Patterns

seminar 0609 015 300x225 Masters Seminar on Patternsseminar 0609 012 300x225 Masters Seminar on PatternsMaster Nardizzi is well known for his knowledge in patterns, so I was really looking forwards to learning loads of new things and sharpening up my patterns. There were over 40 people at this event from Green Belts to 5th degree Black Belts.

At first Master Nardizzi said “Taekwon-do is like building a house. If you have weak foundations, it will be a weak house.” And so lead by Master Nardizzi we started by spending 45 minutes going over Chon-Ji and all the basic movements of these patterns. I loved going over basic techniques as Master Nardizzi really helped me sharpen up. He explained different turns and movements of the patterns in great detail and this helped me gain extra power in my movements.

All other patterns were then explained but before we performed them, we went through the most complicated movements of that pattern. This was great as these moves are normally the ones that I find particularly hard. By the end of the session, I felt that these moves had been improved massively and the standard of my patterns had been heightened. Colour belts were then dismissed and the Black Belts broke up for a 30 minute lunch.

After Lunch, Black Belts started by going through sets of movements that are applied in the Black Belt patterns. I haven’t been a Black Belt for long and had just learned the 1st Degree patterns, so all of these movements helped me perform my new patterns to a higher level. Master Nardizzi explained a lot of useful parts of Black Belt Patterns including how to breathe when doing continuous motion and how to do slow motion techniques. As the higher belts moved on we went over our patterns as to make sure that we could put what we have learnt into our patterns.

I have found this seminar an amazing experience and I have learnt so much from it. My patterns have sharpened up a lot and I have learnt loads of new techniques. I think that overall by going to this event, my foundations have been made stronger.
