TKD Impact Master’s Seminar

masterseminar0209 300x225 TKD Impact Masters Seminar

The Recent Master’s Seminar held in Crawley and attended by a number of the Brighton and Hove Taekwon-Do Students shown above along with their instructor Howard Mayes and Master Donatoe Nardizzi 8th Degree and Master Kim Anderson 7th Degree.

The Seminar on using Taekwon-Do technique as practical self defence in various situations including defence when prone and defence against knife and stick.

Masterful seminar in self-defence Review by Carl Clark 1st kup 15 years old.

The seminar held by Master Nardizzi at the Oriel High School in Crawley, with around 40 participants blue belt and above, was a truly memorable experience. After a quick warm up, consisting of some basic self-defence movements, more advanced self-defence techniques were taught in detail.

Most of the likely fight situations were covered including; head-butts, attacks while on the ground and punches. Master Nardizzi gave a short talk on adaptation in movements, which was useful as it showed how you would vary your defence given certain situations. For example, with wrist grapples where you adapt your movements to exert maximum power and practicality in escaping from holds. We practised these on each other and time seemed to fly, as it does when you’re concentrating and having fun.

After a half hour break, red and black belts stayed on for an extra lesson in knife and stick defence, where we were defending against rubber knifes. Master Nardizzi’s knowledge and swift execution of these defence techniques were truly inspiring. This was my favourite part of the seminar, as it was really practical, although a little bruising! Then we moved on to stick defence. This was my first encounter with stick defence but I feel that I’ve learnt so much in just a short time. Stick defence requires lots of quick movement and concentration, so was totally exhausting.
